For those seeking a position in management, it may be necessary to add a new credential to their resumes. In the past, the only option was a business degree. But today, management degrees in specialized fields can give students the competitive edge they need to advance in their careers. In a recent article, US News and World Report says that specialized degrees often “focus more specifically on management theory and leadership than MBAs.”
Crystal Fey, senior program manager for the University of Wisconsin Sustainable Management degree program, agrees. She says, “Through courses such as accounting, finance, economics, and operations management, you’ll gain a strong foundation in business with our online degree. But in addition, you’ll also learn sustainability practices that are applicable in any industry.”
UW Sustainable Management alumnus Nate Tillis used his degree to take his career to the next level. He’s now an operations manager supervising a staff of 14.
